The property

After securing funding from the Government’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme, administered by Salix, Bath and Northeast Somerset Council (BANES) needed to find a suitable partner to design and install a suitable heat pump system for one of their care homes located in Keynsham.

Our approach

Cotswold Energy Group were selected based on capability and experience; and designed an Air Source Heat Pump system to meet the entire heating and hot water demands of the building’s elderly residents and work seamlessly with the existing solar PV array.

There were several challenges to overcome, such as the need for 24x7x365 heat and hot water with no downtime, the necessity for acoustic enclosures to contain and protect the heat pumps and also the fundamental civil engineering requirements of working in a busy public space.

The results

2 x Carrier 61AF105 units and a 5000L buffer vessel were installed to cover the building’s space heating demand along with 2 x 750L thermal stores to cover the hot water loads.
