Alice and Oli moved to Symonds Yat with their young family area after deciding they were ready to get away from the daily hustle and bustle of city life. Their beautiful old property had an ageing heating system running on Oil with inefficient radiators. They contacted Cotswold Energy Group wondering if a Ground Source Heat Pump might be a suitable solution to heat their home.
The CEG team arranged a site visit to perform initial heat loss calculations of the building and advised that an Air Source Heat Pump might be more suitable due to the availability and slope of the adjacent terrain. It was also apparent that the house would benefit from a new internal heating system consisting of copper pipework and radiators throughout to work in conjunction with the new renewable heating system.
The investment including the new internal heating infrastructure should be recouped within 8 years accordingly to sophisticated financial modelling based on subsidy payments from the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), historic oil spend and projected electricity spend to fuel the Air Source Heat Pump.
